------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Internet Provider -- Try Before You Buy From: tww@cyberenet.net (Bill Wells) Date: Thu, 4 May 1995 19:24:58 GMT Organization: CyberENET Networks and Systems, 609 753 9840; Newsgroups: cyberenet.announce, nj.general, nj.misc, pa.general, phl.announce, phl.misc, alt.internet.access.wanted, alt.internet.services, alt.online-service, biz.comp.services, biz.marketplace.services.computers, biz.misc, comp.misc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We're CyberENET, a new Internet provider. We're here to provide inexpensive connectivity to the Internet. I'll be including our "price sheet" at the end of this post and you can check that out if you want. However, you don't need to see that right now. :-) We would like your business. To get it, we're handing out, free, up to one week of access. What you get for that week is an account you can dial into (609 area code) interactively (it's a Unix shell account, with a 20 megabyte quota) or use PPP or SLIP to access our server or the whole rest of the Internet. Or you can just telnet in, if you have another way of getting to the net. What do you have to do to get it? Reply to this message after filling out the following "form". I'll get back to you within a (business) day or so with a temporary username and password. Note that this form has a phone number blank. I don't care if it's a home or a business phone but I do insist on a phone number. Why? Because I don't send passwords out over the net and I have no interest in licking stamps. Besides which, snail mail is too slow. :-) So why do I also need an address? Da Boss says so, that's why. Probably you'll get added to our mailing list, such is life. Name: Phone: Best time to call (include timezone): Address: There, that's painless, right? :-) You might have noticed that "up to one week" rather than "one week". That's *ss covering. Somebody takes advantage of this offer to come in and misuse the net or our server and I'll cut him off faster than you can say vipw. And I reserve the right to not hand out an account if I suspect that there'll be trouble if I do. One other little caveat: this is a one person/one freebie sort of deal. Also, this isn't a "limited time offer". It's a "when I have the time" offer. So, it'll be offered from time to time, when I imagine that my work-load isn't quite high enough yet. :-) Oh, and who am I, you wonder? I run the systems and network for CyberENET. Yup, the admin has a real live e-mail address and you are encouraged to use it. After my experience with certain providers, and given the horror stories I hear, I suspect this may be a bigger draw than our low prices. Which is a fine lead in to the hype part of this message. :-) Just below is our feechur matrix and our price sheet. Of course, this is highly condensed information and quite possibly terribly confusing. So, if you have any questions about our accounts, feel free to drop me a note. And one more thing: just because we don't have the sort of account you want listed here, doesn't mean we don't have it. Tell us your needs and we'll tailor an account to meet them. If you want to be on the net, from dialup to T1's, we can do it. And we can provide you with complete solutions, from the hardware on up, if you're looking for more than just connectivity. Folks who don't like to see mention of money can hit `n' now. ======== Unix shell account | PPP/SLIP access | | Home page on our server | | | Usenet News and E-Mail | | | | Disk storage (*D) | | | | | Access time, hours/day (*T) Account v v v v v v BASE Yes No Yes Yes 20 24 Unix Shell Account SURFER Yes Yes Yes Yes 20 8 PPP/SLIP account -- 8 hours SURFER PRO Yes Yes Yes Yes 20 24 PPP/SLIP account -- unlimited time TRAVELLER Yes Yes Yes Yes 20 n/a 800 access PPP/SLIP account w/I-Box TRAVELLER PRO Yes Yes Yes Yes 20 n/a 800 access PPP/SLIP account UUCP No No No Yes 20 5 UUCP Mail and Usenet News account WWW/FTP No No Yes No n/a n/a Web & FTP account *D Disk storage is computed in megabyte units; a portion of a megabytes is counted as a whole megabyte. *T All accounts have unlimited time when accessed through the Internet.
